Dr Richard Amos

Senior Veterinarian (BVSc)

Richard Graduated from Melbourne University with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science in 1997. He spent 4 years as a Dairy cattle vet in cold and windy Warrnambool in Victoria before travelling around Australia working as a locum veterinarian. Richard has spent time working in mixed and small animal practices in Western Australia, Darwin and Port Maquarie, treating a diverse range of animals. Richard has worked as a vet in Townsville since 2005. Richard’s interest include fishing, camping. 4WDing and large breed dogs. If Richard was to be rencarnated he would choose to be a bird, so he can fly!

Emma Elvins

Veterinarian (BVSc)

Meet Dr. Emma Elvins BVSc – Veterinarian

Emma is a proud Townsville local and one of our passionate veterinarians here at Bohle Veterinary Surgery. A 2023 graduate from James Cook University, she brings a wealth of experience from working in a large general practice with a busy medical caseload—helping her build confidence, sharpen her surgical skills, and develop a strong interest in diagnostic imaging.

Emma loves all aspects of veterinary medicine and the variety that each day brings. She has a special place in her heart for dogs—especially those who are nervous or shy—and a soft spot for cats, having grown up in a home full of them. Her gentle, caring approach helps pets feel comfortable and owners feel supported.

At home, Emma shares life with Steel the Cattle Dog, Gracie the Labrador cross, and Leonard the blue-tongue lizard! Outside the clinic, you’ll find her gardening, dog training, camping and fishing, baking, or making candles.

If Emma were an animal, she’d be a Macaw— free to fly, bright, intelligent and colourful.

We’re thrilled to have Emma on the team, and we know your pets will love her compassionate, dedicated care.

Emmi Amos

Veterinary Practice Manager (Cert IV in Small Business Management)

Emmi joined the management team in 2013. With a background of management outside the veterinary field she enjoys the challenge of balancing patient, client and team needs. Originally from Victoria she loves the warm weather. She has called Townsville home since 2005 and loves the relaxed and friendly atmosphere in North Queensland. At home her large dog and children keep her busy and entertained! If re-encarnated, Emmi would love to be a dolphin as she would be intelligent, able to swim freely and make others happy.

Shay Glenwright

Trainee Veterinary Nurse (Studying Certificate II in Animal Care)

Shay is our new Trainee Veterinary Nurse. She was born in Townsville and has always had a passion for animals both large and small. Shay has a Kelpie and Bull Arab as well as 2 thoroughbred horses! She is passionate about our clients and patients and ensuring the best care and attention for your furry friends. Outside of work Shay enjoys camping, 4-wheel driving and fixing the motors in her cars. If shay were to be reincarnated, she would be a wild horse, running free across the land.
